Dynamics of Development in a Backward Economy

Uttar Pradesh, the most populous state of the country, has acquired the unsavoury reputation of a backward and slow growing economy. The present book examines the dynamics of development in the state economy. The book is divided into two parts. The papers in Part I examine the performance of UP economy during different time periods since the inception of planning in 1951. The papers provide an indepth analysis of the potential, constraints and challenges before the Uttar Pradesh economy and outline a strategy for rapid economic development of the state.
