The book gives an elaborative account of Assam, a country of exceptional interest. It tells about the inhabitants of Assam, most of them were actually the immigrants. In this work, the author has devoted considerable space to the numerous tribes of Assam. Details about their physique, language, religion and social customs are mentioned comprehensively. The book also contains descriptions of Mughal invasions and how the inhabitants beat back them. Most of the materials for the present work were collected while the author was serving in Assam.The author has made a great deal of effort in composing this work.
