This book is an outcome of 60 years of the authors association in the planning, design, construction and maintenance of scores of multipurpose and hydroelectric projects (including tunnel developments) in Uttar Pradesh (including present Uttarakhand), Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Arunachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, and internationally in Bhutan and France. The text also covers literature on tunnels from various books and journals published in India and abroad. Examples have been included to elucidate design principles.
