Connectivity is important because it promotes trade brings people closer and integrates the economies. Improving connectivity is essential for a regions prosperity continued growth and most importantly for poverty reduction. Improved connectivity lowers costs and increases reliability. It is of great importance for industrial transport and thus for production cost effectiveness and reliability of supply. In the absence of adequate connectivity enormous opportunities generated by the dynamic growth centres of Asia may stop at their international borders. Connectivity between India and ASEAN may be seen in this perspective.
