This tells the story of Birjess Dawar Ali, a young woman who finds herself alone and homeless in the aftermath of partition, and who journeys to Karachi in search of the man she has been betrothed to. She is given shelter, support, love and affection by the Cowasjees a Parsi family. She backs to India and decides to journey to Karachi again in search this time of the Cowasjees with whom she has finds love, affection a sense of home. But will history allow the crossing of borders that have now become rigid and well defined? Will Birjees find what she is seeking?
