Khadi and Village Industries has been recognized as one of the most important means for providing better economic opportunities for the people of a developing economy like India. Promotion of Khadi and Village Industries was specially mentioned in our constitution as one of the Directive Principles of the State Policy. The development of Khadi and Village Industries is emerging as a stock of paramount opportunities, diffusion of skills to the rural areas, alleviation of regional imbalances and a better distribution of national income essential to achieve the egalitarian objective of establishing a social welfare state. One of the main problems conflicting the growth of this Industry is finance which forces entrepreneurs to use second hand machines, inferior methods of production and ineffective techniques of marketing. The present book analyses the basic concepts and core elements of this complex phenomena known as Village Industries.
