Directory of Chief Ministers of India

The Structure of the Constitution was Federal. The provinces were supposed to have Legislative Assembly and Legislative council. This constitution guaranted the strong centre with certain subjects like Defence, Foreign Policy, Customs, Excise and Finance etc under its control subject like law and order, Education and Local Taxes etc were under states and chief ministers as head of their respective states. Their position and power in the states were same as that of Prime Minister in the country but their jurisdiction remained the concerned state.
